Patient Steps Up
When Brenda Kennedy, a United Family Medicine patient of over two decades, saw a need in her community, she was eager to help. With a summer of sweltering heat in Minnesota, Kennedy grew concerned for the kids of St. Paul’s after school program—the Rondo Discovery Club—where she works. Kennedy noticed many of the kids coming to the Discovery Club without any water.
At a recent appointment here at the clinic, Kennedy shared her concerns with our lab supervisor. Following Kennedy’s visit to the clinic, a plan was set in place. On Wednesday, June 30th, United Family Medicine’s CEO—Ann Nyakundi—along with the Director of Community Partnerships—Janeen Dednam-Wright—took 90 water bottles to the Rondo Discovery Club, which is just down the street from our clinic. UFM also provided small bags with medical kits for the children to take home to their families.
This story is just one example of United Family Medicine’s commitment to serving our local community. We’re grateful for our longtime patient, Brenda Kennedy, who brought this vital need to our attention so that we could reach out and help.
